“Topped” Salted Caramel Brownie

Review
Truffles: There are many—perhaps too many—similarities between this pint and “Topped” Chocolate Caramel Cookie Dough. The same soft, easy to spoon ganache, reminiscent of chocolate magic shell. A similar caramel swirl. The same somewhat tiny caramel truffles. But now we get a slightly more generous helping of nine truffles for the entire pint (versus seven from “Topped” Chocolate Caramel Cookie Dough). Once again, these truffles are only on the top, so don’t eat them all at once. You’ll need them later to add some character to this flavor.
Vanilla base: The reason for this is the base. It’s a fairly generic vanilla; sweet, premium quality, but a blank canvas.
Caramel: I did get an occasional taste of salted caramel swirl, but much of it had blended into the base and was lost. Again, much like with “Topped” Chocolate Caramel Cookie Dough, a thicker caramel swirl might have been able to stand out against the other flavors and survive a long soak in the base.
Brownies: The occasional brownie chunk is delicious, gooey, halfway to brownie batter, but a few more would have added texture and needed flavor.
Overall: a mediocre pint; premium, but too similar to and not as good as “Topped” Chocolate Caramel Cookie Dough. I don’t know why this flavor was made. It seems redundant. I expect more hustle from a premium brand such as B&J. But I’m still looking forward to trying all the other pints in the B&J Topped lineup, and comparing them to layered pints from Magnum, Haagen-Dazs, and Talenti.
