Ice Cream Description From The Molly Moon Website: “Back by popular demand, this 4/20…Our most outrageous, beyond delectable, treat-filled pint is back—Munchie Moons! Thick ribbons of vanilla bean caramel, decadent chocolate brownie bites, chunks of cookie dough, and salty sweet chocolate covered pretzels, all suspended in our rich sweet cream ice cream.”
This ice cream was a one day special offered on April 20, 2023. Let’s hope they bring this flavor back next year or earlier. Spoiler alert: it’s pretty amazing.
Sweet Cream Ice Cream: Rich, smooth, and creamy. A high quality base as a blank canvas for the mix-ins.
Ribbons of Vanilla Bean Caramel: Pretty thin having dissolved into the base for the most part. I did get a nice sweet caramel flavor from the base.
Chocolate Brownie Bites: Big chunks of fudgy brownies. Relatively dark chocolate. Soft, not soggy. They taste like actual brownies, not too cakey or fudgy. Good quality, enjoyable. Medium to medium large in size.
Cookie Dough Chunks: I detected some oatmeal in the cookie dough. But it still had the texture and flavor of typical cookie dough, perhaps with a little added saltiness. Medium-sized pieces. There might have been a bit fewer of these than the brownie chunks.
Chocolate Covered Pretzels: Large clusters of chocolate and pretzels. A milk chocolate. The pretzels are still crispy, and provide a nice crunch and some saltiness. The big clumps are appreciated.
Overall: Molly Moon’s Munchie Moons has a generous amount of quality mix-ins—just look at those cross-section pics—and is probably the best Molly’s Moon’s pint I’ve ever tasted. The sweet cream base is good quality—sweet and simple—a perfect platform for the delectable mix-ins. Unfortunately, this pint is only available once a year on 4/20. I immediately sought to get another pint, which is probably the highest compliment possible. Recommended.
