Graham Cracker Ice Cream: This is a great base! It tastes exactly like graham crackers. Graeter’s really captures that unique graham cracker flavor in ice cream form. Perhaps this results from soaking the graham crackers in milk and then straining them out? Regardless, it’s simply the best graham cracker ice cream base I’ve ever tasted—creamy, rich, smooth, mildly sweet, and most importantly, packed with graham flavor.
Marshmallows: We’re talking mini-marshmallow mix-ins. A fair amount of them throughout the pint, some on most every spoon. Not toasted, however. Soft. Toasting them would take this pint to another level. So some room for improvement, in my opinion.
Chocolate Chips: You know I love Graeter’s chocolate chunks. My serving contained a variety of chunks sizes as well as a few whoa momma BIG gnarled chunks over an inch across. It’s milk chocolate so far as I can tell. The melt in your mouth kind. In spite of there being large chunks, I do believe this pint could be improved upon with the inclusion of more chocolate chips.
Overall: Graeter’s S’mores is the best s’mores pint I’ve tried, largely because of its bold graham-flavored base.
From the first taste, I was nodding “Yes, that’s right! That’s what a s’mores ice cream base is supposed to taste like.” Typically, a s’mores flavor would have some version of graham cracker themselves. This pint had none and yet, I didn’t miss them. The graham cracker base was just that good, that flavorful. Flawless.
The mini-marshmallows were a nice mix-in and plentiful. But my quibble: they weren’t toasted. To pull off the s’mores aesthetic, the marshmallows should really have been toasted. That would’ve been next level.
Chocolate chunks are always one of Graeter’s great strengths, and they certainly were in this pint. Yes, I wanted a few more, but the crazy, ginormous size of some of them in this pint was delightful. If you doubt, just check out the cross section pictures. Those are indeed chocolate chunk biggies.
This is a well done s’mores pint that other brands would do well to sample and emulate. Recommended. 8/10.
