Ice Cream Base: The standard Graeter’s base—creamy, smooth, sweet and milky. A somewhat custardy note too. High quality, enjoyable. A blank slate for the mix-ins.

Milk Chocolate Chips: The standard Graeter’s milk chocolate chips—irregular in shape, random in distribution. Some medium and large pieces—one ginormous chunk is over 2 inches long. Not many small chips, however. Not an overly generous amount of chocolate chips, as you can see in the pictures. Melt in your mouth chocolate. Good quality.

Toffee Pieces: Toffee chunks—similar in flavor and texture a Heath bar. Some had dissolved somewhat into the base, infusing it with sweet flavor. Plenty of toffee survived, though, and had a satisfying crunch to them.

Overall: Graeter’s Toffee Chocolate Chip is a great flavor combination. But my particular pint didn’t have as many mix-ins as I would’ve liked. The base is good—sweet, rich, and milky. And you know I love Graeter’s chocolate chips—their irregular size and random amount make every pint into a gamble.

I pop every pint wondering “Will this pint be a jackpot of mix-ins?” In this case, the answer is no. There is only a modest amount of toffee and chocolate. I love how the toffee often dissolves somewhat into the base but almost always leaves behind a solid, crunchy core of toffee—so satisfying to crunch into after all the richness of the dissolved toffee. It’s a great flavor that I would’ve enjoyed more if the mix-in ratio were more generous. 8 of 10.

Over a century ago, Regina Graeter, our family matriarch, stubbornly refused to modernize the way she made ice cream. Today, we remain just as stubborn, honoring her legacy of making the best ice cream you’ll ever taste. Now in our fourth generation, we still make ice cream the same way Regina did, in small-batch French Pots, just 2 ½ gallons at a time. Indulge & Enjoy!

Melt in your mouth toffee pieces are a delight paired with our delicious milk chocolate chips.
