Ice Cream Review: Van Leeuwen Grey Poupon with salted Pretzels (5/10)
Van Leeuwen’s Grey Poupon with Salted Pretzels is a nope for me. I really enjoyed VL’s Hot Honey. The sweet cream ice cream and salty pretzels are fine combo, even though the pretzel bits in this pint are too soft, not crunchy enough to really be enjoyable.
Ice Cream Review: Van Leeuwen Expresso Fior Di Latte Chip (7.5/10)
Van Leeuwen’s Fior di Latte Chip is an enjoyable oddball pint. It has a swirl of espresso and sweet cream ice creams.
Ice Cream Review: Van Leeuwen Summer Peach Crisp (5/10)
Van Leeuwen’s Summer Peach Crisp is one of the worst pints I’ve tried from this brand’s otherwise enjoyable Walmart line, probably due to manufacturing defects.
Ice Cream Review: Van Leeuwen Campfire S’mores (8/10)
Van Leeuwen Campfire S’mores is a pretty darn good s’more flavor with a few unusual mix-ins. The base is supposed to be toasted marshmallow.
Ice Cream Review: Van Leeuwen Honey Cornbread with Strawberry Jam (8/10)
Van Leeuwen Honey Cornbread with Strawberry Jam is an enjoyable summery pint. It’s a well-executed take on a cornbread ice cream with plenty of big chunks of soft cornbread and a fair amount of cornbread crumbs mixed into the vanilla base.
Ice Cream Review: Van Leeuwen Planet Earth (8/10)
Van Leeuwen’s Planet Earth is a delightful pint that exceeded my expectations. I was expecting a gimmick pint—a pint that isn’t flavorful or loaded with mix-ins but that references something else.
Ice Cream Review: Van Leeuwen Wild Blueberry Shortcake (7/10)
Van Leeuwen’s Wild Blueberry Shortcake is a good pint featuring a nice, standard vanilla base, a pop of jam-like blueberry swirl, and plentiful moist shortcake chunks.
Ice Cream Review: Van Leeuwen Bourbon Cherries Jubilee
Van Leeuwen’s Bourbon Cherry Jubilee is a pleasant ice cream plagued by ice crystals in the cherry compote swirl. The sweet cream base is good quality—rich and creamy—the quality I’ve come to expect from VL.
