Ice Cream Review: Humphry Slocombe Caramel Pretzel Swirl (8/10)
Humphry Slocombe Caramel Pretzel Swirl reminds me of an old favorite—Ben & Jerry’s Chubby Hubby, minus the peanut butter element. The base is stellar, so rich it tastes like cake batter.
Ice Cream Review: Atomic Creamery Cherry Codial (8/10)
Atomic Creamery Cherry Cordial is in good company with B&J’s Cherry Garcia and Graeter’s Black Cherry Chocolate Chip. It has a premium sweet cream base, decadent Cella chocolate-covered cherry mix-ins, cherry syrup from the candy that flavors the base to a certain extent, and half a ton of milk chocolate stracciatella everywhere in the pint.
Ice Cream Review: Ben & Jerry’s Topped Thick Mint (8/10)
Ben & Jerry’s Topped Thick Mint has a mild, smooth mint base and plenty of chocolate—ganache, cookie crumb swirls, and mint chocolate balls. My pint was absolutely packed with mix-ins and I enjoyed it much more than I was expecting.
Ice Cream Review: Humphry Slocombe Matchadoodle (5/10)
Humphry Slocombe Matchadoodle was an enjoyable pint with a fatal flaw—ice chunks. The matcha base was top tier, if you ignore the ice.
Ice Cream Review: Atomic Creamery Red Velvet Cheesecake
Atomic Creamery’s Red Velvet Cheesecake is a great Valentine’s Day treat. The base has the thin mouthfeel of ice milk, perhaps because this ice cream is made quickly—flash frozen—using liquid nitrogen.
Ice Cream Review: Van Leeuwen Peanut Butter Brownie Chip (9/10)
Van Leeuwen Peanut Butter Brownie Chip dials in the mix-in levels just right. Tons of dark chocolate chips, little chocolate flakes everywhere, and even some biggie-sized chunks half an inch long, which reminded me of Graeter’s—one of my faves.
Ice Cream Review: Humphry Slocombe Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple (6/10)
Humphry Slocombe Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple is not the peanut butter and chocolate pint you are looking for. It’s a great flavor combo poorly executed.
Ice Cream Review: Acme Valley Butter Pecan (7/10)
Acme Valley Butter Pecan is a well-executed classic flavor. Acme Valley’s bases are top tier, among the best I’ve ever tasted.
